The Many Uses of Castile Cleaning Soap (Be Natural Soap)

What's actually inside

Castile Soap is made with just a handful of ingredients: Organic coconut oil, extra virgin NZ avocado oil, essential oils of Peppermint and Eucalyptus, and Taranaki rainwater. Borax and potassium hydroxide are used in the soap making process, but leave no residue. It is handcrafted in Inglewood, Taranaki, by Be Natural Soap, a small family business using quality ingredients.

Why it works so well

This soap has a pH of 9, which makes it mildly alkaline. That means it is strong enough to cut through grease and grime on contact, but still gentle on your skin and safe for surfaces all around your home. It is that sweet spot that makes castile soap such a reliable all rounder. The Peppermint and Eucalyptus in it are not just there for a lovely smell either, both essential oils bring natural antimicrobial properties, so you get a genuine cleaning boost along with that fresh, uplifting scent that makes housework feel a little easier.

How to use it around Your Home

It’s a concentrate, so you only need a little. Here is the starting guide we share with our customers.

Dishes. Two tablespoons in a sink of hot water. It will not foam much, but it works.

Floors. Two to three tablespoons in three litres of hot water.

Laundry. One tablespoon per load, alongside one tablespoon of our Washing Powder.

Toilets. Pop it in a glass spray bottle for a no fuss, chemical free clean.

General surfaces. Two tablespoons diluted in a 500ml glass spray bottle filled with water. Great on benchtops, tiles, walls, windows, floors and more.
